myclimate offers solutions that are aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These solutions ensure that a company’s carbon reduction targets and measures are in accordance with the targets in the Paris Agreement. With every integrated climate strategy, we begin by working with the client to establish the practical process for greenhouse gas management, as well as the system boundaries.
We prepare and consult ahead of time so you can make an informed decision about when you wish to align with the Science Based Targets initiative and with which targets and steps.
We calculate your SBTi-compliant corporate carbon footprint in full for the base year and the years thereafter.
Support with the SBTi process: you receive full support from myclimate in the identification of base and target years, target modelling and target setting. We secure the proper documentation for submission to the SBTi and are there by your side for advice during the validation process.
We support you in identifying, developing and implementing CO2 reduction measures and incorporate them into the development of the SBTi climate target.
Annual monitoring of the corporate carbon footprint and the SBTi target pathway facilitates sustainable reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and ensures SBTi compliance.
Science-Based targets must cover Scope 1 and 2 in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Standard. If the Scope 3 share of the company balance sheet is more than 40 per cent of total emissions, Scope 3 reduction targets must also be set.
A complete greenhouse gas balance sheet for your company in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is the basis on which your Science Based Targets are developed. The data required for such a Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) can be collected via myclimate EcoCloud - a web-based platform for standardised carbon footprinting. Recurring data collection, for example as part of your annual monitoring, can be easily realised in the same tool.
myclimate develops Science Based Targets with and for your company in the short term, with the aim of achieving a target of net zero in the long term. These targets are based on internationally recognised standards and the criteria and requirements of the Science Based Targets initiative and its Net-Zero Standard. These company targets can then be validated by the SBTi and communicated on the initiative’s platform. myclimate will prepare the necessary documentation and guide you through the process until validation is complete. myclimate can carry out a quick and easy check of your existing climate targets for conformity with SBTi criteria.
*By signing the commitment letter, the company declares that it will set short-term and, if applicable, long-term targets in line with the SBTi guidelines and submit them for validation within two years. Earlier submission of the SBTi targets is possible at any time.
A carbon footprint assists with the systematic recording and analysis of greenhouse gas emissions for a specific system – for example, individual products or services (product carbon footprint, PCF), or entire companies (corporate carbon footprint, CCF). It considers not just CO2 but other greenhouse gases as well, such as methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O). The effect of these gases is converted into a “CO2 equivalent” (CO2e, greenhouse gas potential over a period of 100 years). If other environmental effects are evaluated in addition to the greenhouse potential, this is known as a life-cycle assessment.
The carbon footprint provides insight into the current state of a system. It therefore forms the basis for further steps towards effective climate protection, such as the development, implementation and continuous monitoring of efficiency and reduction measures, as well as the establishment, monitoring and benchmarking of CO2 targets. The carbon footprint can then be used as the basis for transparent, fact-based communications with stakeholders about climate protection efforts to date. Foundation myclimate has almost 20 years’ experience in a wide variety of uses for carbon footprints. Its portfolio of services includes creating and reviewing carbon footprints, establishing CO2 management systems, and developing both standard and customised IT solutions.
myclimate EcoCloud, is a web-based platform, to produce CO₂ balances as well as to manage comprehensive sustainability data. This simplifies and systematises the reporting processes: from data entry by managers to the assessment of the impact on greenhouse gases and the environment, via the consolidation of data across all company structures. Where desired, it is also possible to integrate external auditing of the results right through to final preparation, in accordance with the standards established for climate and sustainable development reports. Input data, key figures and results can be analysed and compared in their entirety, both at the level of individual sites and at that of the company as a whole. All data can also be presented and evaluated in interactive graphs and exported to Excel for further analysis and processing. The platform is available in German, English and French.
myclimate EcoCloud can be adapted to the needs of your company. As the basis of the “CCF Customized” solution, we supply your company with the standard version of myclimate EcoCloud for data capture and evaluation. This enables you to automatically create and tabulate the results of your activities. Direct process emissions can also be recorded. The “CCF Customized” solution allows you to add customer-specific activities, input data, indicators and key figures, so your entire company system is represented in myclimate EcoCloud. This means the corporate carbon footprint can be broken down into Scope 1, 2 and 3 as set out in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. You can even use myclimate EcoCloud to implement existing corporate carbon footprints. We can help you compile the relevant data, carry out a plausibility check and close any gaps. However, we do not audit the recorded data. Finally, we summarise the results in a brief report with an emissions profile of your company.
The SBTi FLAG puts a particular emphasis on natural resources. The acronym “FLAG” stands for Forest, Land and Agriculture Guidance, and it is a binding SBTi guideline. It applies to all companies that use resources or raw materials that stem from agricultural or forestry activities. These include, for example, all foodstuffs, wooden furniture and carton packaging. You can find extensive information in the SBTi FLAG FAQs
Climate targets that are in line with the 1.5°C target and validated by the SBTi are a credible demonstration of your company’s commitment to protecting the climate and limiting global warming. But effective corporate climate protection involves more than just targets for carbon reduction. It also includes practical measures for ensuring those targets are met within the intended timeframe.
myclimate will support you in identifying and developing these reduction measures. To this end, we offer a wide range of options, such as setting up a climate protection programme in your supply chain (insetting); establishing your own support programme; and evaluating technical measures or projects and activities in your supply chain, customer base and workforce. myclimate will create plans for you and be by your side throughout all stages of development, establishment, review and further development of your climate strategy.
A complete, plausible carbon footprint in line with myclimate guidelines and a financial contribution to myclimate climate protection projects in the amount of the emissions calculated are also prerequisites for the myclimate label “Engaged for Impact”.
By setting SBTs, your company can enjoy real savings and greater innovation, and set an example of ambitious climate protection. At the same time, your engagement with the SBTi is a clear and credible indication to your stakeholders of your commitment. Get in touch – we would be happy to help you set ambitious, science-based climate targets for your company.
This product is part of the climate strategy. All calculations of CO2 emissions are carried out with the myclimate EcoCloud carbon management platform.
