Rotpunkt Küchen – climate-neutral kitchen production

Kitchen manufacturer Rotpunkt Küchen also sees global climate change as an opportunity to question itself, to position itself more sustainably and to reduce and offset its own corporate footprint. For example, the medium-sized company from North Rhine-Westphalia has been producing climate-neutral kitchens at its headquarters in Bünde and its Getmold branch plant since 2020.

Rotpunkt Küchen offsets the unavoidable emissions of its two locations through one of over 100 high-quality myclimate carbon offset projects. The company has decided on a project in Kenya: less deforestation of the rainforest thanks to efficient cookers.

In addition, the medium-sized company has taken further concrete measures to avoid or reduce CO2 emissions, as the following company milestones:

  • 2017: Reduction of material usage and material waste by purchasing efficient machines for the cutting department at the Getmold plant. Continuous updating of the machinery and technologies used.
  • 2018: Company-wide certification according to ISO 50001 in the field of energy management and creation of a basis for future certifications and continuous measures. Promotion of e-mobility and subsidisation of job wheels for employees and family members. In total, the Rotpunkt-Küchen team travels 3,352,800 kilometres annually to Bünde or Getmold on 220 working days.
  • 2019: Analysis of the company with regard to CO2 emissions and preparation of a CO2 site balance. Development of a package of measures for continuous CO2 reduction.
  • 2020: Climate-neutral production at the Bünde and Getmold sites by implementing various measures. Reduction of CO2 through increased efficiency and investments in myclimate sustainability projects. Verification of target achievement by repeating CO2 accounting and deriving further measures for continuous CO2 reduction.
  • 2021: The company wants to switch to green electricity company-wide.
