One major challenge in particular is the sourcing of raw materials and the associated transportation. Naturata pays attention to the most environmentally friendly means of transport and short distances. In the case of the spelt noodles, for example, cultivation, processing and distribution take place entirely regionally in Baden-Württemberg. However, this is not always possible, because with some raw materials such as cocoa and coffee beans, climate-intensive transport routes unfortunately cannot be avoided.
That's why Naturata decided back in 2011 to work with myclimate to offset the unavoidable CO2 emissions from selected products. The decisive factor for the organic food manufacturer was the quality of the projects, which, in addition to pure offsetting, also aim to improve the living conditions of the local population.
Pasta, chocolate, sugar - for many products, the entire CO2 emissions that occur during the value chain from production to transport are calculated and offset. All raw materials, transports and production processes are taken into account. Since the calculated CO2 emissions are reduced by the same amount in a carbon offset project run by myclimate, the products are climate-neutral.
But that's not the end of the story for Naturata, because its goal is to become climate neutral as an entire company by 2030, which means making all its products and also its company site climate neutral. In addition to offsetting the emissions generated, the focus is also on actually saving CO2.
Environmental protection and sustainability are very close to our hearts. Our goal is to support a healthy coexistence of people and the environment – for a livable day after tomorrow. Therefore, we are working to constantly optimize the impact of our corporate activities. Climate neutrality and the cooperation with myclimate are an important building block in our commitment to sustainability.
