They do, like their ancestors, dog sledding hunting to feed their families and their dogs. Also, the film tells the story of the inhabitants of Tuvalu who live in the endless expanse of the Pacific on narrow coral reefs nurishing on fish, coconuts and home-grown vegetables as many generations before them.
In both places the sea as the main source of food shapes the whole life of the locals. The melting ice in the north with its influence on the seasons and the resulting water level rise threatens the protagonists simultaneously in both places. The rapid changes in their environment determines their lifestyles and way of thinking more and more. Some of them even see themselves forced to draw a line under their previous existence and to start a new life from scratch.
