Many young adults are now caught in a dilemma between climate-conscious behaviour and the desire to travel, and since the pandemic in particular, people feel a great need to have new experiences. This is precisely the discourse behind the educational project “Shape Your Trip” by Foundation myclimate. Through various workshops and digital learning modules, reflection and conscientiousness about travel is cultivated. To ensure there is no compromising on the adventure and excitement, however, the focus of the project was on a big competition in which participants aged between 14 and 25 could win a valuable contribution to their travel funds.
From Ticino to Hong Kong – ideas as diverse as travelling itself
From the total of 380 participants, eight finalists prevailed in the competition. In their carefully considered concepts, the young people actively tackled route planning and the choice of transportation, as well as local activities to enjoy. myclimate supported them in this with the calculation of their individual carbon footprint. For the jury, however, the focus of the selection criteria was not only on reducing climate-harmful greenhouse gases, but also on the adventure and relaxation factor, and of course the creativity too. All the winning projects can be viewed here. Huge congratulations!
