The objective of the first climate protection project in Mexico from myclimate is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through the improvement of water and energy efficiency in low-income households on a long-term sustainable basis. By lowering the use of fossil fuels for water heating in these households, the project will reduce greenhouse gases.
The project consists of the free distribution and direct installation by certified lady plumbers of water saving devices in 325,000 low-income urban households in the Mexico City Valley and other regions of the country. It also creates jobs for about 500 lady plumbers and employs small and medium sized enterprises to perform functions such as distribution and plumbing oversight. Therefore, there are numerous additional benefits to households, enterprises, the water system and the country as a whole.
