myclimate Launches Digital Platform for Sustainable Tourism

The digital platform enables tourism service providers to determine their own carbon footprint and plan their reduction measures. Guests are actively involved in the climate protection process by contributing to an earmarked climate fund. 75 per cent of this money is used for local sustainability measures, and the remaining 25 per cent is used to support myclimate climate protection projects. The programme aims to promote a wide range of sustainability measures within institutions – including switching to photovoltaic systems, replacing heating systems and air-to-water heat pumps, promoting environmentally friendly mobility solutions and much more.

Now in Germany and Austria

Since 2017, myclimate Cause We Care has been supporting tourism companies in Switzerland on their path to better climate protection. To date, more than nine million bookings have been made with climate protection contributions, saving over 143,000 tonnes of CO₂ – impressive proof of the programme’s impact. Renowned partners include Swiss Youth Hostels, who are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, and the Gadget abc Entertainment Group, the organiser of the well-known OpenAir St.Gallen.

Starting today, myclimate Cause We Care is also available in Germany and Austria.

More than a Tool

Thanks to its intuitive carbon calculator and its comprehensive catalogue of measures tailored to the industry, the new platform not only assists partners with actively implementing climate protection measures in their organisations – it also makes it easier to raise awareness of the issue among their guests. In addition to calculating CO2 emissions, myclimate Cause We Care also offers customisable communication materials to raise awareness of climate protection among guests and employees. Employees can also learn more about climate protection through webinars and training courses, promoting a culture of sustainable thinking within the organisation in the long term.

The myclimate Cause We Care approach is simple and clear: act locally, take responsibility globally. Tourism operators benefit from low-threshold access to a variety of digital tools and receive valuable support in their transformation towards a sustainable future.
