The myclimate educational team has come up with new content, new partners and new ideas to shoot for new records this school year.
The Climate Laboratory focuses on “energy and climate in vocational education.” It is a Switzerland-wide project competition for apprentices at vocational schools and training institutions. It combines youthful creativity and engagement with well-founded environmental, energy, and climate knowledge. Thanks to a cooperation with the programme <link www.suisseenergie.ch/fr-ch/home.aspx - external-link>Suisse Energie</link>, in the 2014/15 project year myclimate will be offering all participating instructors and their classes a free introduction (2-3 lessons) that covers the topics of “energy & climate” and project work, in addition to diverse teaching materials. Training centres can also make use of this free offer.
The climate pioneer initiative offers school classes from kindergarten to senior level the opportunity to realise their own climate protection projects. Since its launch, the number of Swiss students who have become climate pioneers has grown to more than 10,500. The <link www.swisscom.ch/en/residential.html - external-link>Swisscom</link> initiative was inspired by Solar Impulse. For 2015, the <link www.solarimpulse.com/en/home/ - external-link>Solar Impulse</link> pilots Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg are planning a full orbit of the Earth in their solar airplane as the crowing conclusion of their lighthouse project. The classes that take part in this project year will have several opportunities to emulate the two great pioneers on-site.
Teachers, headmasters, and training centres (in the case of the Climate Laboratory) can register their classes starting now. The registration form and further information about both projects can be found online: <link www.klimawerkstatt.ch/fr/latelier-pour-le-climat.html - external-link>Climate Laboratory</link> and <link www.klimapioniere.ch/fr/contact/ - external-link>Climate Pioneers</link>.
