Teacher Training: Skills for Future for vocational schools

A woman with glasses and her hair tied up stands in front of a screen in a classroom and holds a pencil in her hand. A person can be seen out of focus in the foreground. The Wikipedia logo is depicted on the screen.

Target group: Vocational schools, LCS and occupational studies teachers

Vocational teachers are offered a guide and an effective approach to teaching climate protection. In two- to four-hour training sessions, teachers learn how to give their apprentices a sense of empowerment in the context of climate protection – without an ideological standpoint and with action-oriented tools.

What does this programme achieve?

Vocational teachers will learn how to communicate the complex issue of climate change to their target groups. This allows their apprentices to gain knowledge, be empowered to act sustainably, experience self-efficacy and reduce their fears about the future.

The aim is to free participants from the powerlessness that they sometimes feel. The programme also aims to provide guidance amid the flood of information on climate protection.

The three-part programme consists of the following elements:

  • Context and clarity to communicate the basics
  • Solution-orientated approach of myclimate Skills for Future
  • Encouraging the ability to act

In addition, the elements are enriched with job-specific examples and opportunities for action. The time frame is variable, but it is recommended to invest at least half a day. The workshop can be delivered on-site or online. The costs are partly covered by the school, with the exact proportion per assignment to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

“Not ideological, THANK YOU! The handprint shows how everyone can work on an issue for themselves. That way it doesn’t end up being a drag on young people’s moods, or on mine. The infographic, usability and effectiveness are a big help.”
