myclimate "Cause We Care" is an initiative for sustainable tourism. It is based on the idea of guests and hosts making a joint contribution to climate protection in the tourism and leisure sector. Originally launched in the Swiss tourism industry, the programme of the same name, including a digital platform, will also be available to tourism businesses in Germany and Austria from October 2024.
"Cause We Care" provides tourism providers and their customers with a credible, affordable and simple tool for effective climate protection. "Cause We Care" ensures that added value is created for both parties. Companies are given an opportunity to position themselves sustainably and implement climate protection measures directly in their own operations - customers or guests in turn benefit with their contribution from the sustainable and attractive offers made possible by the "Cause We Care" companies.
A "Cause We Care" partner offers customers the opportunity to voluntarily invest a small contribution (approx. 1% of the price) in climate protection and sustainability when purchasing a tourism service or product. This contribution is doubled by the "Cause We Care" partner. The sum then flows into the partner's earmarked "Cause We Care" fund. The financial resources from the fund are used to support myclimate climate protection projects. On the other hand, the partner invests in climate protection and sustainability measures in their own company. In this way, a double impact is achieved together: globally and locally.
Swiss Youth Hostels became a myclimate partner in 2008. Since then, when making a booking, guests have been able to take responsibility for the emissions produced during their journey to and overnight stay in a hostel by making a corresponding contribution to climate protection. Climate protection contributions are also made on behalf of Swiss Youth Hostels employees for unavoidable business-related flights and car journeys.
The compass of southern German mountain sport equipment company Vaude points in one direction: becoming Europe’s most sustainable outdoor sports company. It has now passed another milestone on its trail: the emissions of the entire corporate headquarters in Tettnang, and all products manufactured there, are being compensated in a myclimate climate protection project in China and are thus climate neutral.
